Email attachments cannot be dragged and dropped into Dualoo

We show you the problem, the cause and a solution.

Written by Raphael Mösch

Problem

Want to copy attachments from an email directly into Dualoo using drag & drop, but it's not working? Then you're most likely using Microsoft Outlook (classic/New) or Outlook on the web (Microsoft 365/Office 365) to retrieve your emails.

Cause

Depending on the version of Outlook, it is not possible to drag and drop attachments directly into web applications (e.g. Dualoo, Google Drive, SharePoint, etc.). The reason for this is the way Outlook handles emails and attachments. These are not always treated like normal files from the file system.

The behaviour depends on:

  • Outlook version (classic / New / OWA)

  • Browser (e.g. Edge / Chrome)

  • Target web application

This cannot therefore be influenced by Dualoo or activated via settings in Office 365.

Workaround

Recommended (without additional tool)

  1. Save the attachments from Outlook locally

  2. Then upload the file to Dualoo (drag & drop from Explorer/Finder or via ‘Select file’)

  3. Don't forget to delete the local files/copies after uploading them to the dossier.

Additional tip

If you are using Outlook (New), test the process with Outlook Classic. In some environments, drag & drop works more reliably there.

Additional tools (subject to a fee, depending on the environment)

The following tools can solve the problem depending on the Outlook version. Please test before use in your environment (Outlook version, browser, security policies):

Tool 1: https://www.dragdrop.com/ (compatible avec Microsoft 365 / OWA / Outlook New)
Tool 2: https://www.wilutions.com/ddaddin/index.html (adapté à Outlook classique / Windows Desktop)
Tool 3: https://outlook2web.com/ (ancienne solution / héritée, vérifier avant utilisation)
